The Gustavus Department of Music is pleased to present the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra with Mankato-area native and Minnesota Orchestra violinist Peter McGuire, under the direction of Ruth Lin, for their annual fall concert. The performance will take place on Saturday, November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Admission is free.

Peter McGuire, an instructor in violin in the Gustavus Department of Music, joined the Minnesota Orchestra as a violinist in 2003 and was named acting first associate concertmaster in 2012. He studied at St. Olaf College and at the Manhattan School of Music. McGuire has played with orchestras across the world, including the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra, and the Berlin Philharmonic.

For this program, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra will open the concert with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D Major, Op. 61, featuring guest violinist Peter McGuire. The symphony will conclude the concert with Symphony No. 8 in G Major, Op. 88 by Antonin Dvorak.

The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, along with guest violinist Peter McGuire, will perform on November 10 at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public.
