Holt & Fasbender Recital Sunday Posted on March 21st, 2015 by

The Department of Music at Gustavus is pleased to announce the junior voice recital of Karen Holt, soprano and Chase Fasbender, baritone, to be presented on Sunday, March 22 at 3:30 p.m. This joint recital, accompanied by St. Peter pianist Bonnie Jorgensen, will be presented in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. The performance is free and open to the public.

Soprano Karen Holt is an elementary education major from Lindstrom, Minnesota, and studies voice with Christina Smith. Both she and Chase, a music education major from Hastings, are members of the Gustavus Choir and recently toured Britain and France with Conductor Gregory Aune. Chase studies voice with Michael Jorgensen.

The program for Sunday’s recital includes a variety of compositions ranging from Jean Baptiste Lully’s 17th Century Bois epais and works by Johann-Paul Martini, Giovanni Bononcini and Ernest Chausson through 2 centuries to contemporary musical theatre by Stephen Sondheim, Cinco Paul, and Eric Idle’s The Song that Goes Like This from Monty Python’s Spamalot.

Sunday’s joint vocal recital by soprano Karen Holt and baritone Chase Fasbender will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. The performance is open to the public at no charge and will be followed with a reception for the vocalists in the recital hall lobby.
