A Gustie Guide to the 2018 Fringe Festival Posted on July 27th, 2018 by

Chapter 23 is produced, choreographed, and performed by a Gustie-dominated cast of dancers. The show opens August 4 at the Minnsky Theatre.

Buckle up, it’s Minnesota Fringe Festival time! The annual festivities kick off August 2-12 at 16 theatres across Minneapolis and St. Paul. With low ticket prices and plenty of chances to see a wide cross-section of different performances, the festival encourages everyone to take a risk and try something new, from performers to audience members.

This year, as always, there are several Gusties involved in shows throughout the two week run, and you’ll need to be strategic. Lucky for you, we’re here to help. Here’s what’s on tap for this year’s festival:

A Gertrude Stein Christmas

Devised by the ensemble from Stein’s play “Turkey and Bones and Eating and We Liked It.” If you’ve ever felt like an expatriate at your own family holidays, “A Gertrude Stein Christmas” will ring a few bells.

Bits and Bobs: An Evening of Short Plays

Something for everyone: Five actors perform five shows for five times the fun. Join us for an evening of short plays presented by Trompe L’Oeil featuring a potpourri of comedy, drama and a dollop of surrealism.

Boobilicious

Boobilicious is a bodacious, original musical comedy inspired by our experiences as breasted human beings. Stuffed with sketches & musical parodies, it’s Monty Python meets SNL, with a dash of Laugh-In!

Chapter 23

A collaboration of five choreographer’s visions and experiences, Chapter 23 weaves through an evening length work inspired by post grad life. It acknowledges we are never alone no matter how much we feel like it.

Fools, Errant

Inspired by the adventures of Don Quixote and Sancho, this new comedy follows idealistic teacher, Don, and his brother Sam, as they fight FOR windmills – and the “impossible dream” of environmental justice.

She Says, “Enough!”

She says, “ENOUGH!” to sexual violence, to patriarchy, by making her own way, defining her own identity. This show explores how we say, “ENOUGH!” with our bodies through movement and dance.
