Spring Break Schedule Announced for Hillstrom Museum of Art
The special spring break schedule has been announced for the Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus Adolphus College. During spring break, Saturday, March 27 through Monday, April 5, 2010, the Hillstrom Museum of Art will be open limited hours, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Monday-Thursday, March 29-April 1 and Monday, April 5. The regular museum schedule will resume on April 6.
Winds of Spring Concert at Gustavus Friday
A number of small ensembles will join with the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestra to present their annual "Winds of Spring" concert in Christ Chapel, Friday, March 19. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes performances by the two wind orchestras as well as the Department of Music's Saxophone Quartet, the Wind Sinfonia, Trombone Choir, Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble and the Kalmar Wind Quintet. This performance is free and open to the public.
Leibundguth-Witt Duo in Concert Sunday
The Department of Music is pleased to present "Five Brits & a Witt: Music from the British Isles and America," performed by the Leibundguth-Witt Duo in Jussi Björling Recital Hall, Sunday, March 21 at 3:30 p.m. This performance by Gustavus flute instructor Barbara Leibundguth and Carl Witt, pianist and composer, is free and open to the public.
Japan’s Mika Kimula Returns to Gustavus for Recital
Mika Kimula, teacher and performer of traditional Japanese music, joins soprano Rebecca McConnaughey and pianist Yumiko Oshima-Ryan for a recital in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on Saturday, March 13, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This performance is part of a guest artist residency by Kimula and is sponsored by the Johnson Endowment for the Arts. It is free and open to the public.
