Gustavus Symphony Features Faculty Artists Sunday

The Gustavus Department of Music is pleased to feature faculty members Karrin Meffert-Nelson, clarinet and Justin Knoepfel, viola, in concert with the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and Conductor Ruth Lin, Sunday, November 13, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. This concert is free and open to the public.

Gustavus & Vasa Autumn Winds Friday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras' fall concert in Christ Chapel on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College will be presented Friday, November 11, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Long-time conductor Douglas Nimmo is joined by the Vasa Wind Orchestra's new conductor Karrin Meffert-Nelson for this performance which is free and open to the public.

Digital Artist Alma Lopez to Visit Gustavus

Los Angeles based digital artist Alma Lopez will be at Gustavus Adolphus College Wednesday, Nov. 9 to talk about her newly released book Our Lady of Controversy: Alma Lopez’s Irreverent Apparition, and screen her new documentary “I LOVE Lupe.” The event will begin at 7 p.m. in Wallenberg Auditorium, located in the Alfred Nobel Hall of Science.

Gustavus Honor Band XXII Concert Monday

More than 100 student musicians from 43 high schools across Minnesota and northern Iowa will converge on Gustavus Adolphus College for the twenty-second annual Gustavus Honor Band Festival, November 6 & 7, 2011. The two-day concert band festival, under the direction of Douglas Nimmo, includes rehearsals, seminars, clinics, master classes and demonstrations with Gustavus faculty. The festival concludes on November 7 with the 2011 Gustavus Honor Band and the Gustavus Wind Orchestra performing the Festival Concert at 7:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The Festival Concert is free and open to the public
