Stephen Hilding Voice Recital Sunday

On Sunday, April 21, the Gustavus Department of Music will present baritone Stephen Hilding’s senior voice recital accompanied by pianist Karl Grant and assisted by a number of fellow musicians. The recital will be presented in Björling Recital Hall at 1:30 p.m. and is open to the public.

Senior Saxophone Recital by Camille Jarvis Saturday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present the senior saxophone recital of Camille Jarvis. Camille will present her recital on Saturday, April 20, at 3:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall, accompanied by Beth Winterfeldt. The recital is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Oratorio Festival Celebrates With Combined Choirs & Orchestra

The concert choirs of Sauk Rapids-Rice, Mankato East and Robbinsdale Cooper High Schools will join the Gustavus Choir, the Choir of Christ Chapel and the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra in a celebration of music on Tuesday, April 16 for the 2013 Gustavus Oratorio Festival on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Under the direction of Conductor Gregory Aune, the festival will feature the individual choirs and the massed choirs with the Gustavus Symphony at 7:00 p.m., in Christ Chapel. Tickets are not required for the Festival Concert in Christ Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Symphony Celebrates 125 Years of Music-Making With Home Concert

One of the nation’s leading collegiate symphony orchestras, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra from Gustavus Adolphus College, is celebrating its 125th season of music making with a 7-day concert tour through Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio and Michigan. Under the direction of Conductor Ruth Lin, the symphony will return to the campus and present its Home Concert on Sunday, April 14 at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The performance is free to the public.

Anna Morton Senior Voice Recital Sunday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present the senior voice recital by soprano Anna Morton, Sunday, April 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Ms. Morton will be accompanied by pianist Bonnie Jorgensen. Her recital is open to the public at no charge.

Joseph Turner Senior Voice Recital Sunday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present a senior voice recital by Joseph Turner. Turner’s recital, accompanied by pianist Bonnie Jorgenson and assisted by the members of G-Sharp, will take place on Sunday, April 14, at 4 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. Admission to this concert is free and open to the public.

Spring Jazz Concert Saturday

The Adolphus Jazz Ensemble and the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, under the direction of Steve Wright, will join forces on Saturday, April 13 to present their combined spring concert for 2013. The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus and is free and open to the public.

Daniel Olson Voice & Piano Recital Saturday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present Daniel Olson’s senior voice and piano recital. The concert will take place on Saturday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. Admission is free and the performance is open to the public.

Beth Hauer Awarded NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship

TThe National Collegiate Athletic Association announced its 2012 fall sports postgraduate scholarship winners last week, naming Gustavus senior music education major and cross country runner Beth Hauer (Little Falls, Minn.) as one of the 29 male and 29 female student-athletes to receive the prestigious award.

Hinz and Mundhenke to Present Senior Recital

The Gustavus Department of Music is pleased to present the senior French Horn recital of Emily Hinz and Suzanne Mundhenke on Saturday, April 13 at 1:30 p.m. This joint recital will take place in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus Campus and is free and open to the public.
