Gustavus Debuts New Pianist in Recital

Pianist Esther Wang, in her first year as a member of the Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music, will present her first faculty recital with ‘Cellist David Carter, Friday, October 8, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall.

For this recital, Dr. Wang will collaborate with ‘Cellist David Carter, associate professor of usic at St. Olaf College. They will open the program with works by Francis Poulenc, J. S. Bach, Gabriel Fauré, and Isaac Albeniz. The recital ends with Felix Mendelssohn’s SONATA FOR CELLO AND PIANO IN D MAJOR, OP. 58.

Esther Wang joined the Department of Music at Gustavus this fall with a Bachelor of Music at Baylor University and a Master’s and DMA from the University of Cincinnati. An active piano soloist and collaborator throughout the United States, Dr. Wang has performed with members of the New York Philharmonic, the Minnesota Orchestra, the LaSalle String Quartet and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. She has also taught at the Lutheran Summer Music Program, the New England Music Camp, St. Olaf College and in the University of Texas and Wisconsin systems. She performs and lectures on J.S. Bach’s WELL-TEMPERED CLAVIER as a member of THE BACH FOUR and has recorded solo and chamber works on the Centaur label.

Friday’s debut recital by Pianist Esther Wang is free and open to the public.
