Sunday, November 11, brings four woodwind ensembles to the Jussi Björling Recital Hall stage on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The Gustavus Chamber Players, Woodwind Choir, Flute Trio and Saxophone Quartet join forces to present this concert of music for woodwind ensembles at 3:30 p.m. This performance is directed by Ann Pesavento and John Samuel Roper. It is free and open to the public.
The Gustavus Flute Trio opens the performance with James Hook’s Sonata in G Major, Op. 83, No. 4, followed by the Chamber Players and Johan Fasch’s Sonata in F. The Saxophone Quartet then takes the stage to perform Rossini’s Per Quattro. The remainder of the concert features the Gustavus Woodwind Choir, under the direction of Ann Pesavento, performing works by Purcell, Scriabin, Miaskovsky, Haydn and concluding with Scott Joplin’s The Chrysanthemum.
