The Department of Music at Gustavus is pleased to announce four student recitals on the performance schedule this weekend, April 25 – 26. Presenting recitals are Emily C. Johnson, clarinet, Katie Mason, viola, Laura Ofstad, French horn, Tom Liska, tuba, Jason Vetter, trombone and Kenny Latham, bass trombone. All four performances are in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
Emily C. Johnson, a senior from Portland, Oregon, opens the weekend on Saturday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt. Sunday’s full schedule of events begins at 1:30 p.m. with Katie Mason’s senior viola recital. With roots in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Woodbury, Ms. Mason will be accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt and assisted by sister Leigh Ann on violin.
Laura Ofstad, horn and Tom Liska, tuba present a joint recital beginning at 3:30 p.m. in the recital hall. Ofstad, a senior from Blaine and Liska, a junior from Plymouth, are accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore. Mankato West graduate Jason Vetter and Minnetonka’s Kenny Latham join forces for a trombone/bass trombone joint recital at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April 26. Both trombonists are accompanied by pianist Brenda Moore.
The four student recitals will be followed by receptions in the recital hall lobby. The recitals are free and open to the public.
