The campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter prepares to welcome visitors from across the nation to Christmas in Christ Chapel, 2009, December 4, 5 & 6, a community celebration of Advent and the birth of Christ which has brought the Christmas season to 6000 visitors annually since 1973. This year’s service is titled LETTERS & CAROLS and is based on the English Christmas service of “Lessons and Carols.” LETTERS & CAROLS includes music, scripture and biblical and historic letters from across the centuries which have added to the wonder and delight of the seasons of Advent and Christmas.

Performing in the service are over 250 Gustavus students, faculty and staff, representing the Department of Theatre & Dance and eight of the college’s music ensembles including the Gustavus Choir, the Choir of Christ Chapel, the Lucia Singers, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, the Christ Chapel Ringers, the Chapel Brass, the Herald Trumpets and the Gustavus Brass Choir. Leading the services are Chaplans Rachel Larson and Brian Johnson. Christ Chapel Organist is Chad Fothergill.

A limited number of tickets are still available for the 7:30 p.m. service on Friday, December 4 and the 3:30 p.m. and the 7:30 p.m. services on Sunday, December 6. These tickets may be purchased online at gustavustickets.com. Doors open one hour prior to each service and seating is general admission.
