Gustavus Department of Music faculty member Richard Weber, clarinet, will present a faculty recital Saturday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. Weber is joined by colleagues pianist Esther Wang, ‘cellist Sharon Mautner-Rodgers and narrator Michael Jorgensen. Dr. Weber’s recital is free and open to the public.
Richard Weber and Esther Wang open Saturday’s recital with Robert Schumann’s Fantasy Pieces Op. 73. With Sharon Mautner-Rodgers, they will continue with the Trio for Clarinet, Violoncello and Piano by Johannes Brahms. Following a brief intermission, Weber returns to the stage, accompanied by Michael Jorgensen for R. Murray Schafer’s Wizard Oil & Indian Sagwa.
Richard Weber is a native of Mankato with degrees from the University of Minnesota and Minnesota State University, Mankato. He is a former member of the United States Marine Band in Washington, D.C., and has performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. He is currently teaches clarinet at both Gustavus Adolphus College and Minnesota State University, Mankato.
Saturday’s recital begins at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a reception in the recital hall lobby. The performance is free and open to the public.
