The Winds of Christmas, an annual performance of the music of Christmas by the combined Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, will be presented at morning worship, 10:00 a.m., on Tuesday, December 7, in Christ Chapel. Admission is free to this celebration of the music of Christmas directed by Douglas Nimmo.
Following the busy weekend of Christmas in Christ Chapel which features 350 student musicians from the choirs and the symphony orchestra, the Winds of Christmas brings nearly 150 more musicians from the wind orchestras to the Chapel to share their talents and the music of Christmas.
Tuesday’s program opens with A Christmas Festival composed in 1950 by Leroy Anderson followed by David Holsinger’s heart-warming A Childhood Hymn. Tuesday morning’s short performance concludes with the always popular collection of Christmas favorites, Home for Christmas, by John Higgins.
The public of all ages is cordially welcomed to hear the Winds of Christmas in Christ Chapel with the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, Tuesday, December 7, at 10:00 a.m.
