Gustavus Adolphus College and Christ Chapel are pleased to host the Winter Concert of the Mankato Children’s Chorus, Sunday, December 19 at 3:00 p.m. This annual holiday celebration of music features the five choirs of MCC. Tickets for the performance will be available at the door and are priced at $10 for adults and $7 for senior citizens and children 18 and younger.
Directors Leah Ries and Barbara Murphy Frank will lead the choirs in this 90 minute performance of sacred and secular works with a Christmas theme. Together they will conduct more than 150 singers from the greater Mankato area in five choirs during the performance.
The Mankato Children’s Chorus was formed in 1994 to provide an opportunity for youth to experience the joy of singing while developing healthy vocal techniques. In 1994, the Mankato Children’s Chorus consisted of one choir and 30 singers in grades 3 – 8. Now, in its 17th season, the program has grown to five choirs (Training, Intermediate, Youth, Concert and Melodia) for singers in grades 1 – 12.
This Mankato Children’s Chorus Winter Concert is made possible in part by a grant provided by the Prairie Lakes Regional Arts Council, Waseca, from funds appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature. The concert begins at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 19, in Christ Chapel. It is open to the public with tickets available at the door.
