Senior music performance major Dempsey Schroeder will present his senior viola recital on the Jussi Björling Recital Hall stage on Saturday, April 26 at 3:30 p.m. For this performance, Dempsey will be accompanied by pianist Ben Marti. The recital is free and open to the public.
Dempsey Schroeder is a senior viola performance major from Pennock, Minnesota, and a 2010 graduate of Willmar High School. In addition to his work as a viola performance major, Dempsey plays violin in the Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Justin Knoepfel, and alto saxophone in the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, with director Steve Wright. He studies both violin and viola with Dr. Justin Knoepfel.
For his senior recital, Dempsey will open with two movements of Sonata No. 1 in G minor for Solo Violin BWV. 1001 by Johann Sebastian Bach, followed by the Ernst Bloch Suite Hebraique for Viola and Piano. He will continue with Rebecca Clarke’s Morpheus and conclude the recital with Spiegel im Spiegel by Estonian minimalist composer Arvo Pärt.
Dempsey Schroeder’s senior viola recital will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on Saturday, April 26. This performance is free and open to the public.
