The Department of Theatre & Dance is pleased to announce three performances of the children’s play The World of the Brothers Grimm, a collection of short plays based on the Grimm Fairy Tales. The play, directed by Kaitlyn McElrath ’14, is an adaptation by Carolyn Lane and will be performed in The Dive in the Student Center on April 26 at 6:30 p.m. and April 27 at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Admission to these performances is free.
Join the cast on this magical journey through three of Grimm’s beloved fairy tales where your help will be needed to tell the stories. First the king tells us about his prideful daughter and how she learns to be humble. Next we meet a fisherman who catches a magical fish that grants the wishes of the fisherman’s wife and how, too late, she learns the price is asking for too much. Finally the shoemaker and the elves show us that a little kindness can go a long way.
For this production of The World of the Brothers Grimm, director Kaitlyn McElrath has selected seven students from the Department of Theatre & Dance to lead you on this adventure: Alina Bachman, Jacob Grill, Brady Mueller, Hailey Moen, Natalicia ZumBerge, Jackie Trushcheff, and Nick Sweetland.
Produced by special arrangement with the Pioneer Drama Service, Inc., of Englewood, Colorado, The World of the Brothers Grimm is an enchanting tale with lessons for young and old. And all are invited to listen to the stories.
Once upon a time there was a prideful daughter, a simple fisherman and a humble shoemaker. To hear their adventures, you are invited to attend these special performances on the Gustavus campus, April 26 at 6:30 p.m. and April 27 at 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Admission is free for this “Once upon a time….” experience in The Dive.
