Lucia & Philharmonic Team for Spring Concert

The Lucia Singers and the Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra will combine efforts to present their 2015 spring concerts in one event in Christ Chapel on Sunday, May 3. This joint performance under the direction of Brandon Dean and Justin Knoepfel will begin at 3:30 and will feature a performance of Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria with vocal soloists Molly Clinefelter, Christina Smith and Patricia Snapp. This joint concert will be presented at no charge to the public.

Conductor Brandon Dean and the Lucia Singers, accompanied by pianist Michael Asmus, will open the concert with Michael Mendoza’s Sing a New Song and Bumble Bee by Anders Endenroth. The women’s chorus will follow with a Dan Forrest arrangement of I Know That My Redeemer Lives and Joni Jensen’s arrangement of El Vito. The Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Justin Knoepfel, will then perform Knoepfel’s arrangement of Lament on “Oh, God of Abram Praise” and Alan Hovhannes Psalm and Fugue for String Orchestra, Op. 40a.

Following the Hovhannes, the women’s chorus and soloists Molly Clinefelter, mezzo soprano, Christina Smith, soprano and Patricia Snapp, mezzo soprano, will join the orchestra to present Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria RV 589.

This combined spring concert featuring the Lucia Singers, conducted by Brandon Dean, and the Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra. with conductor Justin Knoepfel, will begin on Sunday, May 3 at 3:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Admission to the event is free. Tickets are not required.
