With the spring semester in full swing, the fine arts events are picking up steam. The 10th Wave Chamber Collective Colloquium on Friday features an exciting cutting-edge group with intentions of bringing classical music to unique locations across Minnesota. The weekend also includes a special “Farewell Recital” by Michael and Bonnie Jorgensen as Michael retires following 28 years of service to Gustavus.

10th Wave Chamber Collective is a Twin Cities-based chamber music collective that explores bringing engaging and interdisciplinary classical new music to performance spaces inside and outside the normative setting. They are a collective ensemble of professional musicians on instruments including clarinet, violin, cello, piano, marimba, percussion, and voice. 10th Wave performs in various places, including bars, breweries, and cafes as well as traditional performance halls.

Michael and Bonnie Jorgensen will be performing a “Farewell Recital” for the Gustavus community after more than two decades of teaching voice and accompanying hundreds of students on piano. The recital will include a range of genres, with everything from the prelude of Bach’s “Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major” to “Michelle” by The Beatles. This concert will also feature David and Marty Jorgensen on guitar and Gustavus alum Christian Gustafson ’18.
