Mankato native Nicole Wamma will present her junior recital Saturday, November 13 at 3:30 p.m. on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. This recital includes performance on two instruments, piano and double bass, and will be presented in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. She is accompanied by pianist Beth Winterfeldt. The recital is free and open to the public.
Nicole is a 2008 graduate of Mankato East High School and a junior music major at Gustavus. She is a member of the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and the Gustavus Choir and studies privately with Yumiko Oshima-Ryan on piano and Rolf Erdahl on bass. In addition to the work of presenting this recital, Nicole is preparing to travel to Italy on a concert tour in January with the Gustavus Choir, under the direction of Conductor Gregory Aune, followed by a spring semester during which she will be studying in Turkey.
For her junior recital, Nicole will open with Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in B Flat Major and 5 selections from Robert Schumann’s Kinderszenen, “Scenes from Childhood.” She continues with Marcello’s Sonata in E minor and the Piano Sonata No. 53 in E minor by Franz Joseph Haydn. The final works on the program are Concerto in D Major by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and the Etude, Op. 10, No. 1 by Frederic Chopin.
Saturday’s junior recital begins at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. The performance is open to the public and will be followed by a reception for Ms. Wamma in the recital hall lobby.
