Founded in 1996 by Artistic Director Jordan Sramek, The Rose Ensemble reawakens the ancient with vocal music that stirs the emotions, challenges the mind, and lifts the spirit. The Saint Paul, Minnesota group tours annually in Minnesota and internationally with repertoire spanning 1,000 years and 25 languages, including new research in Middle Eastern, European and American vocal traditions. The ensemble’s 2013 greater Minnesota concert tour is an exploration of the traditional music of America from rousing hymns and Appalachian foot-stomping songs, to southern harmony shape-note singing and Shaker spirituals. It is the music that gave birth to bluegrass and includes close vocal harmonies with banjo, guitar and fiddle. It is the music of America.
