The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is excited to host one of their favorite fall concerts, the Gustavus Percussion Ensemble. The Percussion Ensemble is directed by Paul Hill. One of the reasons the concert is so popular is because the performers use non-traditional instruments, such as pots and pans, during their performance, as well as traditional. The concert is scheduled to take place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 24 in Bjorling Recital Hall and is open to all.
The concert begins with a work from Brian Justison, “Just Buckets.” The following performance is excerpts from Steve Reich’s “Music for Pieces of Wood.” A selection from Antonin Dvorák , “Largo” from the New World Symphony, will be played next, followed by “Head Talk,” by Mark Ford. The final performance in this lively concert will be “Atenteben,” a piece by Bob Becker.
