Senior vocalists Rebecca Thompson, Zoë May and Darcy Coulter will join forces on Sunday, May 11, to present their combined senior recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. This recital by Thompson, May and Coulter will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will be accompanied by pianists Leah Rodmyre and Claire Merchen. The performance is free and open to the public.
The trio will open Sunday’s event with a combined performance of Jules Massenet’s “Ouvre tes yeux bleus.” Zoë May, soprano, will continue with 3 works for solo voice, accompanied by Claire Merchen on piano. Her program includes Dubussy’s “Les Cloches,” Sir Arthur Sullivan’s “The Sun Whose Rays Are All Ablaze” and “Voi che sapete” from Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro. May and Coulter with then present the duet “Aprite, presto aprite,” also from The Marriage of Figaro, with pianist Leah Rodmyre. Soprano Darcy Coulter will continue the recital with 3 solo works: “Mai” by Gabriel Fauré, “D’une Prison” by Reynaldo Hahn and “Impossible” from Richard Rodgers’ Cinderella.
Darcy Coulter will return to the stage with Rebecca Thompson, mezzo soprano, to perform the duet “Secondary Characters” from the musical [title of show] by Jeff Bowen. (And yes, that is the title of the musical.) Following the duet, Sunday’s recital will continue with 3 selections by Rebecca Thompson, accompanied by Claire Merchen. Rebecca will open her solo set with “Plaisir d’amour” by Johann-Paul Martini, “Bonjours, Suzon!” by Léo Delibes and “Lullaby” from Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Consul. The trio of Rebecca Thompson, Zoë May and Darcy Coulter will take the stage one final time to conclude their senior recital with The Wailin’ Jennys’ “The Parting Glass.”
