Flutist Nikki Skifton, from Stewartville, Minn., will present her junior flute recital in Björling Recital Hall on Sunday, May 15 at 1:30 p.m. Ms. Skifton will be accompanied by pianist Ben Marti and assisted by flutist Erin Grev. Originally scheduled for 3:30, this recital has been moved to 1:30 p.m. to accommodate the Brassworks! concert.
Nikki Skifton is a junior music education major and a member of the Gustavus Wind Orchestra, Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, Gustavus Handbell Ensembles, and the Wind Sampler woodwind quintet. She also plays flute for Gustavus Sunday worship services in Christ Chapel. Nikki is a Björling Music Scholar and studies flute privately with James DeVoll and trombone with Scott Moore. She currently teaches general music in Mankato through Project GEM, a community program that brings arts to schools without art programs. This summer, she will be working on campus with Alumni and Parent Engagement.
Her recital program includes works for flute by Georg Philipp Telemann, Antonio Vivaldi and Frank Martin. For Ian Clarke’s Maya, Nikki will be joined by flutist Erin Grev. She will conclude her program with three-movements from Antonin Dvorak’s Sonatina in G Major.
Nikki Skifton will present her junior flute recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 15. Admission to this recital is free and open to the public. A reception will follow in the recital hall lobby.
