Senior Spotlight: Tessa Longshore

Tessa Longshore is a Dance Honors major from Faribault, Minnesota. In the future, she plans to move to New York to further her dancing career. Professor Melissa Rolnick says that “ Tessa has been a teaching assistant for dance classes, both modeling and supporting students to understand and achieve success in the form. Tessa has emerged as an artist with a distinct voice in choreography, and screen dance.”

We asked Tessa a few questions about her time at Gustavus and her experience in the dance department.

What will you miss most about dance at Gustavus?
TL: “The creative environment”

What’s a favorite memory you have from your time in dance at Gustavus?
TL: “The entire semester taking composition 2”

How have you grown in your time at Gustavus?
TL: “I’ve found an artistic voice and the freedom to explore while creating”

What do you look forward to most about life after Gustavus?
TL: “Having more freedom to choose what I want to do as I figure life out”

What has been your proudest moment in your time at Gustavus?
TL: “Having my pieces shown at ACDA, American College Dance Association.”

What is the most interesting class you’ve taken at Gustavus and why?
TL: “Dance composition 2, I felt like I was challenged the most in this class and this is where I really started to find an artistic style for myself.”
