For more than a decade, the members of the Lucia Singers have gathered to present their spring concert on Mother’s Day in Christ Chapel. Under the direction of Patricia Snapp and accompanied by pianists Chad Fothergill and Sam Eckberg, the chorus will present a variety of works written or arranged for women’s chorus.
The program opens with Joseph Martin’s Come to the Music, assisted by percussionists Andy Jensen and Todd Swingle and Kate Neely on piccolo. The singers continue with works by Teleman, Haydn, before presenting a work in Hebrew by composer John Leavitt, Ose Shalom. Once again joined by percussionists Swingle and Jensen, the Lucia Singers will perform When I Fall in Love and I Go to Rio.
The Lucia Singers Vocal Jazz Ensemble then takes the stage with pianist Eric Wilberg to present the Disney classic, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, by Mack David, Al Hoffman and Jerry Livingston. The entire ensemble then joins them for Keith Hampton’s Praise His Holy Name, Jonathan Larson’s Seasons of Love and concludes the concert with Rhythm of Life from the musical Sweet Charity by Dorothy Fields and Cy Coleman.
