Gustavus Choir of Christ Chapel Returns for Home Concert

The Choir of Christ Chapel of Gustavus Adolphus College returns from on its annual tour in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin to present its Home Tour Concert on Friday, April 24. The choir's performance, under the direction of Patricia Kazarow, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. It is free and open to the public.

KSTP Anchor John Mason to Narrate Nobel Concert Tuesday

John Mason, Anchor, KSTP-TV, will narrate the 2007 Nobel Conference Concert, Tuesday, October 2, beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The concert, matching the energy theme of the annual Nobel Conference, will feature a 1956 industrial cartoon titled "Energetically Yours" and funded by Standard Oil Company of New Jersey. Mason will narrate the film with music provided by the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra and conductor Warren Friesen. The Gustavus Choir and two quartets will also participate.

Family Weekend Showcase Concert Set for Sunday at Gustavus Adolphus College

The annual Family Weekend/Homecoming Showcase Concert at Gustavus Adolphus College is set for Sunday, October 8, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. This concert features mini-performances by the Gustavus Choir, the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, the Lucia Singers, the Gustavus Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras. Sunday's Showcase is presented in conjunction with Family Weekend, but is free and open to the public.

Nobel Concert Expands on the Conference’s Medicine Theme

The annual Nobel Conference Concert takes this year's theme of "Medicine: Prescription for Tomorrow" and expands it to include musical references in history. The program includes the "Transformation" scene from the Jekyll and Hyde musical to tunes for patents medicines to a premiere of a symphonic score for the first horror film ever filmed, Thomas Edison's Frankenstein from 1910. This performance begins at 8:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel, Tuesday, October 3. The event is free and open to the pubic.

Haydn’s "Seven Last Words of Christ" to be Presented at Gustavus

One of most powerful sacred works for string orchestra and quartet, Josef Haydn's SEVEN LAST WORDS OF CHRIST, will be presented as a candle light Lenten service in Christ Chapel on Sunday, March 13, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
