David Fienen to Present Organ Recital in Christ Chapel

Christ Chapel organist and professor of music David Fienen will present a faculty recital in Christ Chapel on Saturday, September 16, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This performance is sponsored by Christ Chapel and the Department of Music and is free and open to the public.

Weekend Recitals Close Performance Season at Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College presents three student recitals this weekend in Bjorling Recital Hall as another recital season comes to a close. Percussionist Todd Swingle opens the weekend with his senior recital at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13. Baritone Greg Dokken and soprano Jamie Hultgren combine efforts at 7:30 p.m. Aaron Hanson, saxophone, presents his senior recital in the recital hall beginning at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 14. All three recitals are open to the public.

Gustavus Honors Recital Set for Saturday

As part of the schedule of events for Gustavus' annual Honors Day, the Department of Music will present its Honors Recital, Saturday, May 6, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Participation in the Honors Recital is determined by audition and is limited to graduating seniors in the department. Those honored for inclusion in this year's recital include Shannon Schultze, 'cello; Kathryn Filius, soprano; Chad Fothergill, organ; Sara Butwinick, soprano; Colin McGuire, violin and Eric Wilberg, piano.

Two Student Recitals Set for the Weekend at Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus will present two student recitals this weekend in addition to a number of ensemble performances. Vocalists Sam Eckberg and Brian Fahey open the weekend Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sara Burns, flute, follows with her junior flute recital on Sunday, May 7 at 3:30 p.m. Both recitals will be presented in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.

Ensemble Concerts Set for Weekend at Gustavus

Three ensembles from the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present their spring concerts this weekend. The Gustavus Chamber Singers and the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble combine efforts on Saturday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. and the department's brass ensembles will perform for the annual Brassworks! concert on Sunday, April 30 at 1:30 p.m. Both performances are in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

Gustavus Music Showcases Student Recitals

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College returns from its Easter Break to feature a weekend of student recitals in the College's Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The series of seven events includes a range of performances from voice to 'cello and violin to brass and percussion. All events are free and open to the public.

Student Recitals Set for Sunday at Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College has two student recitals set for this Sunday, March 19, at Bjorling Recital Hall. Junior vocalists Jessica Halvorson and Alison Fast present their joint recital at 1:30 p.m. followed by senior pianist Dawn Gehlhar at 3:30 p.m. Both recitals are free and open to the public. A third performance scheduled for the evening, the orchestra's performance of the Seven Last Words of Christ in Christ Chapel, has been cancelled.

Gustavus Presents Wright and Oshima-Ryan in Faculty Trumpet and Piano Recital

Two members of the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present a joint recital on Friday, March 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. This free concert will be presented by Steve Wright, trumpet and Yumiko Oshima-Ryan, piano, and assisted by Rick Orpen, Jim McGuire and Gary Gauger.

Student Recitals Fill Weekend with Music at Gustavus

Three student recitals are scheduled for March 11 in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The day of music includes performances at 1:30 by Erin Crimmins, flute, at 3:30 by Jonathan Grimsby, trumpet and Mark Iverson, euphonium, and at 7:30 p.m. by Kate Neely, flute and Amanda Nehotte, flute. All three performances are free and open to the public.
