Weekend of Student Recital Set at Gustavus

A full weekend of senior recitals will be presented by the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College beginning Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22, in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The six performances include both instrumental and vocal recitals and are free and open to the public.

Full Weekend of Student Recitals on Stage at Gustavus

A weekend of student recitals from percussion and voice to clarinet and trombone is set for Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus this weekend. The schedule includes Andrew Jensen, percussion; Hayden Kane, euphonium; Katherine Johns, saxophone; Mark Wirbisky, viola; Christa Saeger, 'cello; Rebecca Palermo, clarinet; Alison Fast, soprano; and Brandon Burum, trombone. All student recitals are free and open to the public.

Weekend Recitals Close Fall Performance Season at Gustavus

A busy schedule of recitals and concerts completes the Department of Music's fall semester at Gustavus Adolphus College. Beginning at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 9, performances will be presented in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and Christ Chapel throughout the weekend. These solo recitals and ensemble performances are free and open to the public.

Michael Johnson Continues 35 Year Tradition at Gustavus

Michael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has performed to sold-out audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for over thirty-five years, returns to Björling Recital Hall once again. The holiday season tradition continues on Friday, December 8 at 8:00 p.m. and is one of only two performances Michael will present in Minnesota this season.

Mankato Area Man Featured in Student Recitals at Gustavus This Sunday

Two student recitals are scheduled for Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus Sunday, November 12. North Mankato's Luke Royer, a 2003 Mankato West graduate, will present his senior voice recital at 1:30 p.m. Later, at 7:30 p.m., Joel Beachey and Mark LaVoie join efforts for a junior piano recital. Both recitals are free and open to the public with receptions following the performances.

Weekend Recitals Close Performance Season at Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College presents three student recitals this weekend in Bjorling Recital Hall as another recital season comes to a close. Percussionist Todd Swingle opens the weekend with his senior recital at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, May 13. Baritone Greg Dokken and soprano Jamie Hultgren combine efforts at 7:30 p.m. Aaron Hanson, saxophone, presents his senior recital in the recital hall beginning at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, May 14. All three recitals are open to the public.

Gustavus Honors Recital Set for Saturday

As part of the schedule of events for Gustavus' annual Honors Day, the Department of Music will present its Honors Recital, Saturday, May 6, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Participation in the Honors Recital is determined by audition and is limited to graduating seniors in the department. Those honored for inclusion in this year's recital include Shannon Schultze, 'cello; Kathryn Filius, soprano; Chad Fothergill, organ; Sara Butwinick, soprano; Colin McGuire, violin and Eric Wilberg, piano.

Wind, Percussion and Choral Concerts Fill Weekend at Gustavus

A series of ensemble concerts are scheduled for the weekend at Gustavus Adolphus College. The Gustavus Wind Orchestra opens the schedule on Saturday, May 6 in Christ Chapel. The Gustavus Percussion Ensembles open Sunday's schedule at 1:30 in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and the men's and women's choruses, St. Ansgar's and Birgitta finish the weekend at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in Christ Chapel. All three events are open to the public.
