The Department of Music at Gustavus will present two student recitals this weekend in addition to a number of ensemble performances. Vocalists Sam Eckberg and Brian Fahey open the weekend Friday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sara Burns, flute, follows with her junior flute recital on Sunday, May 7 at 3:30 p.m. Both recitals will be presented in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and are free and open to the public.
Baritones Samuel Eckberg, a native of Arlington, and Brian Fahey, from Omaha, Nebraska, begin their combined junior voice recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5. Accompanied by pianist Britt Forsberg, they open their recital with a Mozart duet, Ave Verum Corpus, and then continue with solo works by Bach, Vaughan Williams, Brahms, and conclude their recital with another duet, The Holy City, by Stephen Adams.
Sara Burns, a senior from Milaca, will present her a flute recital, accompanied by pianist Coni Liljengren, on Sunday, May 7, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Ms. Burns will open her recital with Bach’s Sonata in E-flat Major, followed by the Albert Roussel Joueurs de Flute pour Flute et Piano. The final work on the recital is Prokofiev’s Sonata in D Major.
Both recitals are to be held in the College’s Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. They are free and open to the public.
