The Hillstrom Museum of Art at Gustavus Adolphus College will present Kaleidoscope: Senior Show 2009, an exhibition featuring the work of ten studio art majors at the College. The show will be on display from Saturday, May 2 through Sunday, May 31 with an opening reception scheduled for 4-6 p.m. May 2.
This exhibition is a culminating event in the studio art major’s curriculum and a required component of the major. On display are works by Randi Dettling, Hannah Erickson, Elizabeth Faldet, Erica Larson, Anne Pearce, Emily Pickford, Tania Schueller, Alex Stassen, Brent Suski, and Mai Yang.
The works on display were created using a variety of different materials, including traditional media such as painting on canvas, watercolor on paper, ceramics, sculpture in bronze, and photography. There are also mixed media pieces that incorporate handmade ceramic rocks, sculptural works made of bent wire, and abstract photographic explorations of motion.
The exhibition was selected from a group of submissions by each artist, and the jury process was carried out by faculty members from the Department of Art and Art History.
The Hillstrom Museum of Art is located on the lower level of the College’s C. Charles Jackson Campus Center. Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 1 to 5 p.m. on weekends. The exhibition and opening reception are free and open to the public.
