Woodwind Chamber Concert at Gustavus Sunday Posted on November 16th, 2010 by

Under the leadership of Ann Pesavento, Sarah Erickson Lume and John Engebretson, four woodwind ensembles of the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present their fall recital Sunday, November 21. This event includes performances by the TLTD Quartet, the Kalmar Quintet, the MECC Quartet and the Quintrivium Winds. The concert begins at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.

The TLTD Quartet opens the performance with three movements from Edvard Grieg’s Aus Holberg’s Zeit, followed by the Kalmar Quintet and works by Antonin Dvorak, Serenade in D minor, and August Klughardt’s Wind Quintet, Op. 79. The MECC Quartet continues the concert with Scott Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag, Clement Janequin’s Three Madrigals for Four Saxophones and the Sailor’s Hornpipe by Henry Cowell. The Quintrivium Winds conclude Sunday’s performance with the Presto movement from Poulenc’s Trio, followed by a movement each from Gustav Holst’s Quintet in A flat and Peter  Mueller’s Quintet No. 1 in E flat.

Sunday’s performance of woodwind chamber music begins at 3:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public.
