The Gustavus Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of adjunct professor Paul Hill, will present its annual spring concert in Björling Recital Hall on Sunday, May 1, at 1:30 p.m. The program includes a new composition by Sean Prichard ’11, along with other works on standard, as well as not so standard, percussion instruments. The concert is free and open to the public.
For the ensemble’s concert, Director Paul Hill has selected works which showcase the wide variety of compositions, and sounds, available for percussion. The performance opens with De Leon’s La Polka De Mama and Daniel Levitan’s Invention 2 (and) 3 for Percussion Duo. It continues with an arrangement by Percy Hall of Rossini’s well-known William Tell Finale and Michael Rhodes William Tell’s Canned Overture. Sunday’s performance includes Lazy Monday by Sean Prichard ’11, a native of Northfield, Minnesota and one of the members of the ensemble. The concert concludes with Stephen Rush’s Mas Fuerte.
Sunday’s percussion performance begins at 1:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall and is free and open to the public.
