Northfield senior Sean Prichard will present his senior recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall at Gustavus Adolphus College on Friday, April 29 at 7:30 p.m. For this program, Prichard will perform three original compositions along with other works on percussion and piano. His senior recital is free and open to the public.

Prichard, who has studied percussion with Paul Hill and Bob Adney, conducting with Ruth Lin and composition with Rich Orpen, is a senior Honors in Composition music major. For his senior recital, Sean has assembled a program to showcase the experiences he has had at Gustavus. He will open with two traditional works on the snare drum assisted by flutist Antonio Herbert and continue with an original composition Lazy Monday (2011). His program continues with Pablo Bagilet’s Argentinean Suite on vibraphone, Elliot Carter’s Eight Pieces for Four Timpani and Rihards Zalupe’s Eastern Fantasia on marimba. Another of Prichard’s original compositions, To Be, or Not To Be, from Hamlet (2011) will feature a Gustavus student string quartet along with Jack Boardman on percussion and Prichard on piano. Then, joined by alto saxophonist Logan Burnside, Sean will present Georgia on My Mind by Hoagy Carmichael. Sean Prichard’s senior recital concludes with two piano performances: Pièce Froides: Danses de travers by Erik Satie and Prichard’s final composition, Long Winter Blues (2011).

Sean Prichard’s senior percussion, piano and composition recital begins at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29. The performance in Jussi Björling Recital Hall is free and open to the public. It will be followed by a reception for the musicians in the recital hall lobby.
