Reyelts & Schmidt Recital Sunday Posted on November 15th, 2011 by

Vocalists Erianna Reyelts and Maria Schmidt will open the student recital season at Gustavus with a joint recital on Sunday, November 20 in Jussi Björling Recital. Reyelts will be accompanied by pianist Ruth Webber and Schmidt by pianist Yanna Georgas. This joint student recital will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Soprano Erianna Reyelts is a senior anthropology and sociology major with a minor in music from Duluth. She is a 2008 graduate of the Marshall High School and the daughter of Steve and Barbara Reyelts.

Maria Schmidt, mezzo soprano, is a 2003 graduate of Tracy Area High School and the daughter of Seth and Elizabeth Schmidt. She is a member of the Gustavus Choir and combines a minor in music with her major in English. Both Schmidt and Reyelts study voice at Gustavus with Professor Patricia Snapp.

Sunday’s recital will include works for solo voice by Handel, Schubert, Herbert, Schumann and Gounod. Together, Reyelts and Schmidt will present works from the musicals Jesus Christ Superstar and Wicked, and a selection from the opera The Tales of Hoffman. With baritone Josh Fredrickson, Erianna Reyelts will present La ci darem la mano from Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

Sunday’s recital by Erianna Reyelts and Maria Schmidt will begin at 1:30 p.m in Björling Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
