The Gustavus Department of Music is delighted to present guest pianist Robert Satterlee. The concert will take place on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. As part of the Department of Music Colloquium Series, Dr. Satterlee’s recital is free and open to the public.

Robert Satterlee is celebrated for his skills as a spirited and inventive soloist and as a chamber musician. He earned degrees in music performance from Yale University, Peabody Conservatory, and the University of Missouri – Kansas City Conservatory of Music; he currently teaches at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Satterlee has played at countless concerts, festivals, and colleges around the world over the past decade, including the Schubert Club in St. Paul, Minnesota, the World Piano Conference in Serbia, and with the Chicago, London, and Philadelphia Symphony Orchestras. He collaborated with composer and pianist Frederick Rzewski from 2004 to 2006 and created a program that went on to tour around the United States and to record a CD.

For this program, Satterlee will play several animated works. The program will begin with The Chromatic Fantasy and Fugue in D Minor by J.S. Bach, followed by Beethoven’s Eroica Variations for Piano. The concert will end with Sonata in B Minor by Franz Liszt.

The Music Department at Gustavus is pleased to bring guest pianist Robert Satterlee to the Gustavus campus for this concert on Friday, November 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
