The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present the Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert in Björling Recital Hall on Sunday, April 28, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Under the direction of Karrin Meffert-Nelson, James DeVoll, Ann Pesavento and John Engebretson, the concert will include a variety of ensemble performances ranging from clarinet trios and quartets, to saxophone quartet, flute choir and a woodwind quintet. Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.
The program will open on Sunday with a Clarinet Trio presenting works by Handel, Corelli and Mozart, followed by the Saxophone Quartet performing Drastic Measures by Russell Peck. The Clarinet Quartet will then move to the stage and perform selections by David Bennett and Antonin Dvorak. The concert continues with the High Five Quintet and the performance of three movements from Paul Hindemith’s Kleine Kammermusik, followed by the Clarinet Quartet’s performance of Andantino and Scherzo by James Waterson and Trois Divertissements by Henri Tomasi. The Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert concludes with A Gaelic Offering by Catherine McMichael presented by the Flute Choir.
The 2013 Spring Woodwind Chamber Ensembles Concert in Björling Recital Hall on Sunday, April 28, will begin at 3:30 p.m. With performances ranging from clarinet trios and quartets, to saxophone quartet, flute choir and a woodwind quintet, Sunday’s concert is free and open to the public.
