The combined handbell choirs of Christ Chapel and the Department of Music will present a spring concert in Christ Chapel on Friday, May 17, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Under the direction of Chad Winterfeldt, the Christ Chapel Bells and the Christ Chapel Ringers, along with two smaller ensembles, will join to present this concert. The performance is free and open to the public.

The program for Friday’s concert will open with works by Derk Hakes, Margaret Tucker, Jeanne Warzyn, and one of Chad Winterfeldt’s arrangements of Be Still and Know by John Bell. The Christ Chapel Bells will continue with a little fun as they perform Alan Menken and Howard Ashman’s Under the Sea from Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The Christ Chapel Ringers will open their half with Pirates of the Carribean by Klaus Badelt, Dance and Air in C by Arnold Sherman and William Bradbury’s Just as I Am with solo flutist Anna Caruso.

Two small ensembles formed by members of the two handbell choirs will continue the program with Kevin McChesney’s arrangement of Brethern, We Have Met to Worship and an arrangement of Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, before the Christ Chapel Ringers return to conclude the concert with Barbara Werner’s Let Everything that Breathes Praise God and another Kev McChesney arrangement, Now the Green Blade Riseth.

This performance by the handbell choir of Christ Chapel is free and open to the public. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
