Liefermann Opens Busy Recital Weekend Posted on April 24th, 2014 by

Gustavus senior education major Daniel Leifermann will open a very busy junior and senior recital weekend with his senior trumpet recital on Friday, April 25 at 7:30 p.m. Leifermann’s recital will include his accompanist Beth Winterfeldt and a number of fellow student-musicians from the Gustavus Trumpet Choir, the Christ Chapel Brass and the Gustavus Brass Choir. This performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The recital is free and open to the public.

Dan Leiferman is a senior from Waconia, Minnesota, and a 2010 graduate of Waconia High School. His parents are Nathalie and David Leifermann. He is a member of the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, Chapel Brass Quintet, Gustavus Brass Choir, and the Gustavus Trumpet Choir. He also participated in the St. Ansgar’s Men’s Chorus. Daniel is a Björling Scholar and studies trumpet with Dr. Stephen Wright. This summer he will be serving his second year on the staff of the Mankato Area 77 Lancers Marching Band as a Brass Technician. Daniel hopes to direct his own marching band someday as a high school band director. He will begin that process this fall as he will complete his student teaching in two different schools. The first section of his student teaching will be spent at Prior Lake High School. After seven weeks at Prior Lake High School, Daniel will go and student-teach at Field Community School where he will be working with grades 4-6 in band and orchestra.

For Friday’s recital, Dan will open with Eric Ewazen’s Concert Fanfare, assisted by the Gustavus Trumpet Choir. He will continue with pianist Beth Winterfeldt to present Purcell’s Sonata for Trumpet, Goedicke’s Concert Etude, and a Donald Hunsberger arrangement of Believe Me if All Those Endearing Young Charms. Two additional solo works, Rondo for Lifey by Leonard Bernstein and Frostfire by Eric Ewazen will be followed by the Vaughan Williams’ Flourish, with the Gustavus Brass Choir and, finally, a Steve Wright arrangement of Fugue No. 1 by Robert Schumann, assisted by the Christ Chapel Brass.

Friday’s senior trumpet recital by Daniel Leifermann will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will be followed by a reception for the performers.
