Saturday in Bjorling will Feature Bassist Michael Eastwood Posted on May 15th, 2014 by

A junior from Decorah, Iowa, double bass performance major Michael Eastwood will perform his senior recital on Saturday, May 17, in Bjorling Recital Hall at 3:30 p.m. Accompanied by pianist Nicole Wamma and assisted by his sister, double bassist Rebecca Eastwood, Michael will present this recital in Björling at no cost to the public.

Michael’s repertoire for his recital will contain a mixture of well-known and lesser-known composers. The first and fourth movements of J. S. Bach’s “Suite III” will open the concert. Then he will perform the first movement of “Double Bass Concerto”, composed by Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and continue with Serge Koussevitxky’s “Valse Miniature.” Finally, along with his sister Rebecca Eastwood who will also be on double bass, he will play the first movement of “Sonate in B, K. 292” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. His recital will leave some people wishing that it was longer.

On Saturday, May 17 at 3:30 p.m., Michael Eastwood will present his junior recital in Bjorling Recital Hall. The general public is invited to come and listen to his music. Admission is free.
