Shelby Roles Senior Piano Recital Sunday Posted on November 13th, 2014 by

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to announce the senior piano recital of Lakeville South High School graduate Shelby Roles. Roles, a senior biology major and religion minor at Gustavus from Prior Lake, will present her senior recital on the Jussi Björling Recital Hall Stage on Sunday, November 16 at 7:30 p.m. The recital is free and open to the public.

For her senior recital, Shelby will open with David Haas’ Come and Journey with Me assisted by vocalist Christina Sand. She will continue with Felix Mendelssohn’s Lieder ohne Worte, Op. 38 (mvt. 6) and, with alto saxophonist Kayla Hansch, present Maurice Ravel’s Vocalise-etude en forme de Habanera. The recital concludes with Franz Liszt’s Consolation, Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years, with violist Kallie Poirier, and the 7th movement of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Prelude, Op. 23.

Shelby Roles is a 2011 Lakeville South High School graduate and is the daughter of Kari and Tom Roles of Prior Lake. She is a biology major with a religion minor at Gustavus and studies piano in the Department of Music with Dr. Esther Wang. Following her graduation in December 2014, Shelby will be attending medical school to pursue a career in pediatric oncology.

This senior piano recital by Shelby Roles will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 16 in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. The recital is open to the public at no charge and a reception for Ms. Roles will follow the performance in the recital hall lobby.
