Isabel Carlson Violin Recital Saturday Posted on November 16th, 2016 by

Junior Isabel (Izzy) Carlson will present a student violin recital with pianist Bonnie Jorgensen on Saturday, November 19 at 1:30 p.m. in Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus in St. Peter, Minnesota.

Izzy is a 2014 graduate of South High School and the daughter of Janet Carlson and Cynthia Herrick of Minneapolis. She studies violin privately with Conor O’Brien and will graduate early as a music major in May, 2017. In addition to her role as concertmaster of the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Ruth Lin, Izzy is a member of the Gustavus Jazz Lab Band, the Blue Note Jazz Combo, a number of chamber ensembles and the Mankato Symphony Orchestra. She also serves as conductor of the Buela Youth Orchestra in Mankato.

With her pianist Bonnie Jorgensen, Izzy will open the recital with the Concerto No. 7 in A minor, Opus 9, by Pierre Rode and the Partita No. 2 in D minor by J.S. Bach. She will conclude the recital with the first movement of Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole in D minor, Opus 21.

This student recital by violinist Isabel Carlson will begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 19 in Björling Recital Hall. Admission is free and tickets are not required. A reception for the performers will follow in the recital hall lobby.
