The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College presents its annual Joint Faculty Recital on Saturday, February 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Bjorling Recital Hall. The evening can best be described by the word “variety” as the recital includes performances by eleven members of the department.
Richard Weber, clarinet and pianist Coni Liljengren open the event with a performance of Rossini’s INTRODUCTION, THEME AND VARIATIONS. D. Scott Moore, bass trombone and David Fienen, piano, continue with the second movement of Eric Ewazen’s RHAPSODY FOR BASS TROMBONE. Mozart’s DUO FOR VIOLIN AND VIOLA follows, performed by Lara MacLean, violin and Warren Friesen, viola. Baritone Michael Jorgensen and Ester Wang, piano, take the stage to present two works by Henri Duparc, EXTASE and PHIDYLE.
The recital continues with Ney Rousaro’s two-movement work, TOCCATA AND DIVERTIMENTO FOR VIBRAPHONE AND GUITAR, presented by Robert Adney, vibraphone and James McGuire, guitar and ends with the combined efforts of the department’s new piano instructors, Yumiko Oshima-Ryan and Esther Wang, in a performance of Mozart’s PIANO SONATA FOR FOUR HANDS, K. 448.
A reception for the musicians will follow in the recital hall lobby. This event is free and open to the public.
