Sweden’s renowned young guitarist Mattias Jacobsson presents a special guest recital at Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus Saturday, September 19 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at the door for $10.

Sweden’s phenomenal young guitarist Mattias Jacobsson will appear in concert on Saturday, September 19 at Gustavus Adolphus College, sponsored by the department of music and the office of the president. Jacobsson’s performance will be preceded by a master class with students from the college. The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Tickets for the event are $10 and are available at the door.

Jacobsson has studied with such great guitarists as Erik Möllerstöm in Sweden and Sharon Isbin at the Juilliard School of Music. At the age of 17, he made his recital debut at the Stockholm International Guitar Festival and followed immediately with a tour through Estonia and his first recording. Since that time, he has performed with principal members of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Danish Radio Symphony and has been broadcast on the BBC throughout Europe and NPR in the United States. Throughout 2009, his program “Es Musica” will be broadcast bi-weekly on Television Espanol’s centennial celebration of the music of Francisco Tarrega. His American debut was at the Alice Tully Hall in New York.

The public is strongly encouraged to attend this performance on September 19 by one of the world’s finest young guitarists, Mattias Jacobsson. Tickets will be available at the door beginning at 7:00 p.m. The recital will be followed by a reception for the artist.
