Alexa Johnson Senior Piano Recital Sunday

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present Alexa Johnson in her senior piano recital. The recital will take place in Bjorling Recital Hall on Sunday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to present Alexa Johnson in her senior piano recital. The recital will take place in Bjorling Recital Hall on Sunday, May 5, at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Alexa is a senior psychology major and music minor. She is from Centerville, Minnesota, and graduated from Centennial High School in 2009. She is the daughter of Brian and Kim Johnson, is a recipient of the Gustavus Music Scholarship and a member of the Handbell choir ensemble. Alexa studies piano with Esther Wang.

For this recital, Alexa will begin with Frederic Chopin’s Nocturne in C-sharp Minor, Op. 27, No. 1. The next is a work by Darius Milhaud, Scaramouche, where she will perform the first movement with Katie Frehner accompanying her on another piano. Alexa will perform the fourth movement of Suite Bergamasque, by Claude Debussy. The following song, Stephan Schwartz’s When You Believe, will be accompanied by Anna Morton and Allie Buchnis, both singing soprano.  The final performance of the recital will be Over the Rainbow, a work by Harold Arlen.
