Gustavus Percussion Ensemble Concert Set for Sunday

Under its new director Adam Rappel, the Gustavus Percussion Ensemble will present its Fall Concert on Sunday, November 20 at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. Admission to the event is free and tickets are not required.

Dr. Adam Rappel is in his first year as a visiting assistant professor of music at Gustavus with undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Minnesota. In addition to his work at Gustavus, Adam is the Director of Percussion Activities at Wayzata High School and is a busy free lance performer. He has taught the University of Wisconsin — Stevens Point, the University of Minnesota — Twin Cities, the MacPhail School of Music and Inver Hills Community College.

For this performance, Dr. Rappel and the Percussion Ensemble will open with Pete O’Gorman’s Fire, followed by Daniel Levitan’s Variations on a Ghanaian Theme, Rika Fujii’s Yurikago: a Japanese Lullaby and Ney Rosauro’s Cadencia para Berimbau. Sunday’s concert will conclude with a Brian Slawson arrangement of J.S. Bach’s Concerto in A minor.

The Sunday, November 20 performance by the Gustavus Percussion Ensemble directed by Adam Rappel will begin at 1:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Admission is free.
