Full Weekend of Student Recitals on Stage at Gustavus

A weekend of student recitals from percussion and voice to clarinet and trombone is set for Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus this weekend. A weekend of student recitals from percussion and voice to clarinet, ‘cello and trombone is set for Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus this weekend. The schedule opens Friday, April 13, and includes Andrew Jensen, percussion; Hayden Kane, euphonium; Katherine Johns, saxophone; Mark Wirbisky, viola; Christa Saeger, ‘cello; Rebecca Palermo, clarinet; Alison Fast, soprano; and Brandon Burum, trombone.

Andrew Jensen, percussion and Hayden Kane, euphonium, open the weekend on Friday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. They are accompanied by pianists Ricky Fong and Mark LaVoie. Saturday’s schedule begins at 1:30 with Katherine Johns’ senior saxophone recital, accompanied by Ben Marti, piano and the Gustavus Saxophone Quartet. At 3:30 p.m., juniors Mark Wirbisky, viola and Christa Saeger, ‘cello, will take the stage accompanied by pianists John McKay and Samuel Eckberg.

Sunday’s schedule opens at 1:30 p.m. with senior clarinetist Rebecca Palermo, accompanied by pianist Bonnie Jorgensen. Soprano Alison Fast follows with her senior voice recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall at 3:30 p.m., accompanied by pianist Alex Zupan. The weekend of recitals concludes with St. Peter native Brandon Burum’s senior trombone recital at 7:30 p.m. Burum is joined by St. Peter pianist and harpsichordist Bonnie Jorgensen.

The weekend’s recitals are free and open to the public. A reception for the musicians will follow each recital in the recital hall lobby.
