St. Ansgar’s & Chamber Singers Sing Friday

The St. Ansgar's Mens Chorus and the Gustavus Chambers Singers, both under the direction of Rod Urtel, combine talents for a joint spring concert on Friday, April 30, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. This performance is free and open to the public.

Guitar, Brass and Choral Fill Weekend

In addition to Michael Johnson's annual concert at Gustavus this Friday, December 11, guitar, brass and choral recitals and concerts fill Jussi Björling Recital Hall the final weekend of the 2009 fall semester.

Michael Johnson Returns to Gustavus December 11

Michael Johnson, the singer, song-writer, storyteller, and guitarist who has delighted audiences at Gustavus Adolphus College annually for forty years, returns to Björling Recital Hall, Friday, December 11, at 8:00 p.m. This performance on the Gustavus campus is the only performance the national recording artist will present in southern Minnesota this season.

Gustavus Jazz Saturday

The Gustavus Jazz Lab Band and the Adolphus Jazz Ensemble, directed by Steve Wright, present their combined fall concert Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's performance by the two jazz ensembles will be presented in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Wind Orchestras’ Concert Friday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras will present their fall concert in Christ Chapel on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College, Friday, November 20, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Douglas Nimmo conducts this performance which is free and open to the public.

Ensemble Performances Fill Gustavus Weekend

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College hosts three performances by student ensembles this weekend beginning with the Philharmonic Orchestra, Friday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. On Sunday, November 15, the Gustavus Percussion Ensemble performs at 1:30 p.m. followed by a Woodwind Chamber concert at 3:30 p.m. All three concerts will be presented in Bjorling Recital Hall and are open to the public at no charge.

Furniture Designer/Sculptor Dean Wilson Exhibition at Gustavus

Works by furniture designer and sculptor and Gustavus alumnus, Dean Wilson, will be on display in Schaefer Gallery in the Department of Art/Art History beginning Thursday, November 5 - November 30. An opening reception on November 5 will be preceded by the artist's lecture/discussion in the Fine Arts Lecture Hall at 4:30 p.m. Schaefer Gallery and the lecture are free and open to the public.

USAF’s New Horizons in Concert at Gustavus

New Horizons, the clarinet quintet from the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band, will present a performance on Wednesday, October 21, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Interpretive Center of the Linnaeus Arboretum.

Bassist Barry Green in Residency at Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College brings Bassist and Educator Barry Green to campus in residency, Monday, October 19. The author of "The Inner Game of Music" and "The Mastery of Music" will give a Presentation and Master Class, open to the public, at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Björling Recital Hall. Tickets are not required.

Jazz Vocalist Kurt Elling Returns to Gustavus

Jazz vocalist of the year, Kurt Elling, joins with the Laurence Hobgood Trio for this special Homecoming event on the 20th anniversary of his graduation from Gustavus, Saturday, October 10, 8:00 p.m. Tickets available at gustavustickets.com.
