Emily Johnson Clarinet Recital Sunday at Gustavus

The Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music will present Emily C. Johnson in her junior clarinet recital Sunday, March 16 in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Accompanied by pianist Bonnie Jorgensen, Ms. Johnson will present works by Lutoslawski, Caravan and Robert Schumann in recital beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Gustavus Philharmonic Presents Vivaldi’s Four Seasons Sunday

The Gustavus Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Brian Buckstead, will present Antonio Vivaldi's The Four Seasons on Sunday, March 16, beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. Daniel Jacobsen, Amara Berthelsen, Rachel Dorr and Mark Wamma will be featured as violin soloists. This performance is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Presents Flutist John Samuel Roper Recital

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present a faculty flute recital by John Samuel Roper, Saturday, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. Roper's recital will be presented with pianist Jieun Kim and bassoonist Ann Pesavento. The performance in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Presents Compositions of Gillman and Merritt

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College opens the 2008 spring semester with a presentation of the works of guest composer Justin Merritt and faculty composer Michele Gillman. The program will be presented in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on Friday, February 15, beginning at 7:30 p.m. It features violinist Benjamin Sung, pianist JiHye Chang, marimbist Justin Schramm, along with a quintet of Gustavus student musicians.

Woodwind Ensembles to Perform at Gustavus

Sunday, November 11, brings four woodwind ensembles to the Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall stage on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. The Gustavus Chamber Players, Woodwind Choir, Flute Trio and Saxophone Quartet join forces to present this concert of music for woodwind ensembles at 3:30 p.m. This performance is directed by Ann Pesavento and John Samuel Roper. It is free and open to the public.

Engebretson to Present Faculty Saxophone Recital

Faculty member John Engebretson will present a saxophone recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus, Friday, November 2, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Assisting in this recital are pianist Esther Wang, guitarist Jim McGuire, bassist Rick Orpen and Andrew Haaheim on drums. Mankato Pianist David Viscoli to Present Guest Recital at Gustavus

Mankato pianist David Viscoli will present a guest recital in Jussi Björling Recital Hall on Friday, October 26, beginning at 7:30 p.m. The Minnesota State University, Mankato, Associate Professor will present works by Faure, Mozart, Rachmaninoff, Schubert and Liszt. John McKay Returns to Present Piano Recital at Gustavus

John McKay, long-time professor of piano at Gustavus Adolphus College, returns to Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on Saturday, September 30 to present a guest recital at 7:30 p.m. His program for this recital includes works by Mozart, Debussy, Chopin and Franck. The recital is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Artist Series Finale Concert Features Renowned Pianist Teresa Walters

The Gustavus Artist Series presents its season finale concert Friday with a solo performance by piano virtuoso Teresa Walters.
