Compositions Recital, Cirque de les Ridicule, Set for Sunday

Michele Gillman, an instructor in the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College, will lead a cast of faculty members, students, alumns and friends in a recital of new compositions, Cirque de les Ridicule, Sunday, May 18. This performance includes performances and works by Gillman, Gustavus alumnus Paul Fraser, Jeffrey Kowalkowski, Paul Tierney, Phillip Cooke and Justin Merritt and begins at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus campus. It is free and open to the public.

Brassworks! Concert Concludes Busy Weekend of Music

The annual Brassworks! concert, showcasing the work of the Christ Chapel Brass and the Gustavus Trombone and Brass Choirs, will be presented in Bjorling Recital Hall at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, May 18. This concert conducted by Scott Moore is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Announces Finale of Senior Recitals This Weekend

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present the final weekend of senior recitals this weekend in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the campus. Clarinetist Rachel Braband is scheduled to present her recital at 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. Kathryn Patterson, French horn, will open her recital at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, May 17, followed by vocalist/pianist Samuel Eckberg at 3:30. All three events are free and open to the public.

Senior Voice Recitals Set for Weekend

Two Department of Music vocalists, Michelle Kolhoff and Christine Beatty, are scheduled to present their senior recitals in Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus this weekend. Both sopranos have recitals scheduled at 3:30 p.m., with Michelle Kolhoff opening the weekend on May 10 and Christine Beatty set May 11. Both events are free and open to the public.

Adolphus Jazz Concert Features Jazz Quartet Friday

The Adolphus Jazz Ensemble of the Department of Music at Gustavus features the A Jazz Quartet in it spring concert Friday, May 2. The concert, directed by Steve Wright, begins at 7:30 p.m. in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Sunday Features Percussion and Recitals at Gustavus’ Bjorling Recital Hall

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College presents three events Sunday, May 4 in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall. The Gustaus Percussion Ensemble and Director Paul Hill opens the afternoon at 1:30 p.m., followed by Annika Torkelson's Senior Tuba Recital at 3:30 p.m. Senior pianist Joel Beachey concludes Sunday's schedule with his senior piano recital at 7:30 p.m.

Mike Vax Big Band Brings Stan Kenton Alumni to Gustavus

The Department of Music at Gustavus is pleased to present the Mike Vax Big Band (featuring alumni from the Stan Kenton Orchestra) in concert at Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus, Thursday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m. This concert is the final event in an afternoon of clinics and demonstrations scheduled in Schaefer Fine Arts Center. Tickets for the evening concert are available by calling the Gustavus Ticket Center at 507-933-7590 or may be purchased at the door.

Woodwind Chamber Music to be Presented at Gustavus

An afternoon concert of woodwind ensembles is schedule for Sunday, April 27 at 3:30 p.m. on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Under the direction of Ann Pesavento, the flute ensemble and the woodwind choir of the Department of Music will present a spring concert in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

The Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College is pleased to announce the schedule of four senior recitals, April 19 and 20, on the Gustavus campus. The senior recitals on Saturday, violist Mark Wirbisky, 1:30 p.m., tenor Brian Fahey, 3:30 p.m., and Sunday at 3:30 p.m., mezzo soprano Krista Nelson and tenor Michael Rueckert at 7:30 p.m., are free and open to the public in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall.

Swedish 'cellist Thomas Schoenberg and St. Paul classical guitarist Chris Kachian will present a guest recital of contemporary works for guitar and 'cello at Gustavus Adolphus College on Sunday, April 6. This performance in Jussi Björling Recital Hall begins at 3:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
