Wind, Percussion and Choral Concerts Fill Weekend at Gustavus

A series of ensemble concerts are scheduled for the weekend at Gustavus Adolphus College. The Gustavus Wind Orchestra opens the schedule on Saturday, May 6 in Christ Chapel. The Gustavus Percussion Ensembles open Sunday's schedule at 1:30 in Jussi Bjorling Recital Hall and the men's and women's choruses, St. Ansgar's and Birgitta finish the weekend at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in Christ Chapel. All three events are open to the public.

Choir of Christ Chapel Presents Home Concert

The Choir of Christ Chapel at Gustavus Adolphus College presents its annual home concert, Friday, April 28, following a three-day performance tour to the metropolitan Denver area. Under the direction of Patricia Kazarow, the Choir will present this concert, with Rev. Rachel Larson serving as narrator, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel on the Gustaus campus.

Gustavus Choir and Symphony to Present Mozart’s Requiem

With the combined efforts of the Gustavus Choir and the Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, the Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music will present Requiem by W. A. Mozart, Sunday, April 30, beginning at 3:30 p.m. Gregory Aune will conduct this concert in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus campus. This performance of Mozart's master work is free and open to the public.

Home Concerts To Fill Christ Chapel With Music Saturday

Returning to campus after concert tours that spanned central Europe and the Midwest, the Gustavus Wind Orchestra and Gustavus Choir will present their annual Home Concerts in Christ Chapel on Saturday, February 11. The Wind Orchestra, under the direction of Douglas Nimmo, opens the afternoon with its concert at 3:00 p.m. The Gustavus Choir and conductor Gregory Aune complete the day with a concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Gustavus Premieres Beautiful Savior Commission

On Friday, November 18, the Gustavus Wind Orchestra from Gustavus Adolphus College will premiere a newly written work, commissioned by the College and based on the hymn tune, Beautiful Savior. The new work, Light of My Soul, was written by David Gillingham and commissioned for the ensembles' 2006 Eastern European Concert Tour. Friday's concert in Christ Chapel begins at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Orchestra Set for Friday’s Concert in Christ Chapel

The Gustavus Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras will present their fall concert in a joint performance on Friday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus. Conductor Warren Friesen leads the two student ensembles in this concert which is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Choir Presents Spring Concert Sunday

The Gustavus Choir, under the direction of Gregory Aune, will be joined by a chamber ensemble to present its spring concert, Sunday, May 1, beginning at 7:00 pm. in Christ Chapel on the Gustavus Adolphus College campus.
