Gustavus Symphony Orchestra to Present Season Finale Saturday

The Gustavus Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Warren Friesen, will present the Gustavus Adolphus College Department of Music's season finale, Saturday, May 26, beginning at 8:00 p.m. in Christ Chapel. This final performance includes solo performances by three concerto competition winners, Christopher Fogderud, trumpet, Katherine Johns, saxophone and Justin Schramm, marimba. The public is cordially invited to attend this finale concert.

Home Concerts Set As Gustavus Ensembles Return From European and American Tours

Home concerts by the Gustavus Choir, Wind and String Orchestras kick off the spring music season this weekend on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. With the Gustavus Choir's return from Spain and Portugal and the wind and string orchestras' recent mid-western tours, the three ensembles open the spring semester with their annual Home Concerts on Saturday and Sunday.

Gustavus Wind Orchestras Present Concert Friday

The Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, from Gustavus Adolphus College, will join to present their fall concert in Christ Chapel, Friday, November 10, beginning at 7:30 p.m. This performance, directed by Douglas Nimmo, includes a work dedicated to the work of long-time conductor Myron Falck who passed away earlier this year.

Family Weekend Showcase Concert Set for Sunday at Gustavus Adolphus College

The annual Family Weekend/Homecoming Showcase Concert at Gustavus Adolphus College is set for Sunday, October 8, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. This concert features mini-performances by the Gustavus Choir, the Gustavus and Vasa Wind Orchestras, the Lucia Singers, the Gustavus Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestras. Sunday's Showcase is presented in conjunction with Family Weekend, but is free and open to the public.

The Lucia Singers from the Department of Music at Gustavus Adolphus College will present its annual Mother's Day concert this Sunday, May 14. Under the direction of Patricia Snapp, the women's chorus will present this concert beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. The performance is free and open to the public.

Gustavus Honors Recital Set for Saturday

As part of the schedule of events for Gustavus' annual Honors Day, the Department of Music will present its Honors Recital, Saturday, May 6, beginning at 1:30 p.m. in Christ Chapel. Participation in the Honors Recital is determined by audition and is limited to graduating seniors in the department. Those honored for inclusion in this year's recital include Shannon Schultze, 'cello; Kathryn Filius, soprano; Chad Fothergill, organ; Sara Butwinick, soprano; Colin McGuire, violin and Eric Wilberg, piano.
